How to Transfer iTunes From One Apple to Another

How to Transfer iTunes From One Apple to Another

The transfer of content from one Apple computer to another is possible without the use of discs and cables when both computers  share a network and file sharing is enabled. When a network is shared, the computers can retrieve information from each other’s hard drive, including iTunes content. Computer authorization is required if purchased content is retrieved from the Apple computer, as purchased content is often protected by DRM (Digital Rights Management).
1 – Click the “Apple” icon on the desktop’s menu bar and click “System Preferences.” Click “Sharing” and select “File Sharing” in the Sharing window.
2 – Click the plus sign underneath “Folders” and double-click the “iTunes” folder to include it in the shared folders. Click the plus sign under “Users” and add the account name of the alternate Apple computer.
3 – Click the “AirPort” icon on the menu bar at the top of the screen and connect to the same network as the alternate computer.
4 – Select the “Finder” icon on the secondary computer’s desktop dock and click the name of the primary computer underneath the “Shared” header in the Finder’s side menu.
5 – Double-click the “Shared” folder and drag the “iTunes” folder to your desktop to transfer the folder to the secondary computer.
6 – Double-click the “iTunes” folder on the secondary computer’s desktop and highlight all of the files and folders in the folder. Right-click (or “Control” and click) the highlighted files and select “Open with iTunes.”
7 – Click “Store” at the top of the iTunes menu and click “Authorize Computer.” Enter the iTunes account e-mail address and password and click “Authorize” to authorize the alternate computer.
