How to Shut Down Windows If It Won’t Start
Shutting down your Windows computer when the regular shutdown menu refuses to to do so might seem like an impossible situation, but the shutdown menu is only one possible way to terminate your system. You can run the shutdown command from a DOS prompt, manually forcing the computer to shut down.
1 - Click “Start,” “Programs” and “Accessories.”
2 - Click “Command Prompt.”
3 - Type “shutdown -s” at the DOS prompt.
4 - Press “Enter” to shut down the computer.
